Booktag #2 Would you rather….


1. Read only trilogies or stand alones? Alleen trilogieën of een verhaal van één boek?
Ik lees denk ik liever trilogieën dan alleen staande boeken. Ik vind het erg leuk om personages te leren kennen door middel van meerdere boeken. (Ik vind het wel fijn om af te wisselen).
2. Read only female or male authors? Alleen werk lezen van vrouwelijke of mannelijke auteurs?
Mij maakt het niet uit wie de boeken schrijft, of dat een man of een vrouw is. Ik vind niet dat dat wat uit zou moeten maken. Ik lees op dit moment wel meer boeken van vrouwelijke schrijvers.
3. Shop at Barnes & Nobles or Amazon? Kopen in een echte boekwinkel of via internet?
Ik vind het fijn om in een echte boekenwinkel boeken te kopen, maar bestellen via Bol.com is wel erg handig, hoef je er ook niet mee te tillen.
4. All books become movies or TV-shows? Alle boeken verfilmen of TV-series?
Oké deze is best lastig, ik houd van film kijken maar ben ook echt serie verslaafd. Bij boekenseries zou ik echt gaan voor TV-series, maar bij sommige boeken is het mooier als het verfilmd word. TV-series kunnen ook (te) lang voortduren.
5. Read 5 pages per day or 5 books per week? Lees 5 blz. per dag of 5 boeken per week?
Vijf boeken per week! Mits ik echt het verhaal kan onthouden. Als ik vijf boeken per week zou kunnen lezen dan lees ik in ieder geval een keer alle boeken die ik wil lezen.
6. Be a professional reviewer or author? Een professioneel recensies of een auteur?
Ik zou heel graag (een keer) een boek willen schrijven, maar voor nu kies ik voor professioneel recensist.
7. Only Read your top 20 favorite books over and over or always read new ones that you haven’t readbefore?
Dit is ook al een lastige vraag.. Ik zou alleen boeken lezen die ik nog niet heb gelezen. En dan echt recensies schrijven zodat ik daar op kan terugvallen wanneer ik het volgende boek in de serie ga lezen.
8. Be a librarian or book seller? Een bibliothecaresse of een boekenverkoper?
Allebei? Ik zou er dan een café van maken dat je bij elk gekocht boek een kopje koffie of thee kan halen. En ik zou de winkel helemaal naar thema’s inrichten. Posters van boeken met boeken die op dat moment populair zijn en stellages met: als je dit boek leuk vind, dan dit boek misschien ook wel!
9. Only read your favorite genre, or every genre except your favorite? Alleen je favoriete genre, of elke genre behalve je favoriete?
Ik vind het heerlijk om ook buiten mijn favoriete genres (historische) fantasie, historie, sprookje vertellingen en romance, zie ik het echt niet zitten om alleen maar sci-fi of thrillers te lezen. Dus alleen mijn favoriete genres. Dit is een beetje vals spelen omdat ik geen één favoriete genre heb.
10. Only read physical books or E-books? Alleen papieren boeken lezen of alleen E-books?
Ik vind papieren boeken erg fijn, maar E-books zijn ook fijn. Vooral als het gaat om boeken meenemen op vakantie of dikke boeken lezen. Dit is dus ook een moeilijke keus. Als ik echt zou moeten kiezen dan zou ik voor E-books kiezen omdat dat minder ruimte inneemt in de kast.

Fairyloot October book was a Villainous read about an Asian Evil Queen. I did not expected much of it because I do not like Snowwhite's story and I'm new to the Asian setting. I do think that Asian culture is very interesting to learn from and about. Xifeng (shefung) is a poor girl who lives with her aunt in a little village in Feng Lu, all she has is the education her aunt taught her and her beauty. Her destiny is shown in the cards...to become the next Empress. So she set out towards the palace.... This is such a nice retelling from the POV of a villain! That is something I haven't read before. And I really liked it. Xifeng develops towards the Evil Queen and it is really nice to see that happen. Dao has a really nice writingstyle, I couldn't put the book down. The Queen of the Tearling Series by Erika Johansen

When Kelsea Glynn is 19 years old, a group of men appear at her doorstep and take her to the Keep. There is her castle, because Kelsea isn't just some 19 year old girl. She is the Queen of the Tearling. With every book in this series I needed some time to get into the story, because the chapters are very large and it sometimes switches between POV's. Which is totally fine, but it sometimes distracted me too much. I really like this world building, I had some difficult with understanding when the story takes place (future) but after a while I got it and that made the books better. Although I did not like every aspect of Kelsea, Johansen is such a great writer. I liked how Johansen wrote the mysteries and made it all come together. I often was blown away by the revelation of some aspects of the stories! Kelsea is a strong young woman with a strong mind, but sometimes she does not think her actions through...and that has consequences. I also have a big dislike about her attit

Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer

This is not just a retelling about Aurora, but also about another girl, never been told. About her sister Isabelle. These two sisters are very different, but grew up together in the castle. And while Malfleur is getting stronger, the kingdoms are divided. And the girls get separated. This story is different from what I expected, I thought it would be more excitement. But although I was disappointed, it did read like a fairytale. It had a slow pace and that suit the story, the story about Sleeping Beauty. Because the writing wasn’t that fast paced I took my time reading, I even went three days without reading because I didn’t was drawn to it that much. I wish the story would have contained more excitement, more mystery and maybe folklore? I love Folklore and especially in fairytale books! This is definitely a fairytale retelling that reads like a real fairytale, like Hunted by Meagon Spooner. Next year Hillyer will bring out another book “Winter Glass” I think that this will
