Goodreads


Om er achter te komen wat Goodreads echt is en hoe het werkt heb ik een account aangemaakt. Ik zal nu met stappen vertellen wat ik heb gedaan om in dit boekengenootschap te komen. Ik heb al heel veel over Goodreads gehoord, maar ik had nooit echt zin om een account aan te maken. Ik haal vooral mijn quotes er vandaan.

Je kan je aanmelden met je E-mailadres, een blognaam en een wachtwoord. Je kan daarna kiezen of je je mailaccount of facebook aan je Goodreads account wil koppelen. Ik heb ervoor gekozen om dat (nog) niet te doen. Je kiest daarna een Goodreads doel, je kan hier het aantal boeken neerzetten wat je in 2016 wil gaan lezen (38). Daarna kies je genres waar je van houdt. Ik heb de genres: Fantasy, Fiction, Historical, Historical Fiction, Young Adult, Mystery en Romance gekozen.

De volgende stap is dat je boeken sterren kan geven op basis van jouw ervaring. Je kan ook boeken aanklikken die je nog wil lezen, hoe meer boeken je sterren geeft hoe meer aanbevelingen je krijgt van andere boeken. Ik kwam lang niet alle boeken tegen die ik heb gelezen, je kan ook op boeken zoeken maar daar kwam ik alsnog niet de boeken van Nicholas Sparks die ik wel heb gelezen tegen.
Er zijn daarna een aantal stappen die je kan maken.
-          Je kan een bookshelf maken, hier kan de boeken inzetten die je zelf hebt. Ik heb zowel mijn E-books als papieren versies in deze kast gezet.
-          Je kan een boekenkast vullen met de boeken die je wil lezen en ook dus die je al het gelezen dit jaar.
-          Je kan je profiel bijwerken door over jezelf een stukje te schrijven.


Omdat het een Engelse pagina is, is het handig als je je reviews in het Engels schrijft, zo kunnen meer mensen jouw reviews lezen.

Pluspunten:
+ Het is overzichtelijk
+ Je kan boeken gemakkelijk in verschillende boekenkasten zetten.
+ Je kan je favoriete auteur volgen
+ Je kan meedoen aan give-aways.
+ Je kan zien of je op schema loopt met de reading goal, echter weet ik niet waar ze dit op gebaseerd hebben.
+ Het is via een website beschikbaar en geen app zoals BooksAmino

Minpunten:
- Het is even uitzoeken hoe je je boekenkasten kunt vullen met de boeken die je dit jaar al gelezen hebt. Je moet naar je profiel gaan en dan je rechts Goodreadsdoel bekijken/updaten en dan kan je boeken aanklikken en zeggen of je die eerder of in 2016 hebt gelezen.
- Niet alle boeken die ik heb gelezen kon ik vinden op Goodreads

Forest of Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao

Fairyloot October book was a Villainous read about an Asian Evil Queen. I did not expected much of it because I do not like Snowwhite's story and I'm new to the Asian setting. I do think that Asian culture is very interesting to learn from and about. Xifeng (shefung) is a poor girl who lives with her aunt in a little village in Feng Lu, all she has is the education her aunt taught her and her beauty. Her destiny is shown in the cards...to become the next Empress. So she set out towards the palace.... This is such a nice retelling from the POV of a villain! That is something I haven't read before. And I really liked it. Xifeng develops towards the Evil Queen and it is really nice to see that happen. Dao has a really nice writingstyle, I couldn't put the book down. Even if you don't read as much as I do or if you are not as good in English you can still easily read this book. ☆☆☆☆,5 If you doubt to read this book, do it! The series/duology is called ...

The Queen of the Tearling Series by Erika Johansen

When Kelsea Glynn is 19 years old, a group of men appear at her doorstep and take her to the Keep. There is her castle, because Kelsea isn't just some 19 year old girl. She is the Queen of the Tearling. With every book in this series I needed some time to get into the story, because the chapters are very large and it sometimes switches between POV's. Which is totally fine, but it sometimes distracted me too much. I really like this world building, I had some difficult with understanding when the story takes place (future) but after a while I got it and that made the books better. Although I did not like every aspect of Kelsea, Johansen is such a great writer. I liked how Johansen wrote the mysteries and made it all come together. I often was blown away by the revelation of some aspects of the stories! Kelsea is a strong young woman with a strong mind, but sometimes she does not think her actions through...and that has consequences. I also have a big dislike about her attit...
